Stakeholders in education urged to play roles

The Amakomhene, Nana Adu Mensah Asare II, has challenged various stakeholders in education to play their respective roles effectively for the attainment of holistic education in the country.

He explained that without collaborative efforts and support from the various stakeholders in education, it would be difficult for the government to solely mobilise all the needed resources and know-how to get the best results for this important sector in the nation’s development.

The Amakomhene made the statement at a ceremony, during which he handed over 150 desks to the Amakom Abroatia M/A Basic School in Kumasi.

The occasion was also used to inaugurate a library constructed by a UK-based philanthropist, Dr Philips Tibbs. The library is stocked with 1,240 books.

Advice to teachers

Nana Mensah Asare advised the teachers to work hard and also encouraged the students to take their academic work seriously, to become useful citizens in future

A daughter of Dr Tibbs, Ms Shallotte Tibbs, spent six months in the school in 2010 teaching. While teaching, she realised the need for a library for the school and seized the opportunity to raise funds from various donors to provide the school with the facility.

He lauded the Ghanaian educational system and called for more to be done by all to make the system more beneficial to the citizens.

The Headteacher of the school, Mr Solomon Osei-Kankam, commended the Amakomhene and Dr Tibbs for the support, and promised to take good care of the facilities.

He said the facilities would go a long way to enhance the development of education in the school and the country as a whole.

Until the inauguration of the library facility, the school, which has a population of 324, had a challenge with library books and space.
