Don’t allow politicians to use you

The Tema Metropolitan Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, (NCCE), Mr Isaac K. Antwi, has appealed to the youth not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause chaos as this year’s general election approaches.

Mr Antwi advised students who are not up to 18 years to avoid voting during the forthcoming election or being used as conduits for causing trouble.

He was speaking at this year’s Constitutional Game Competition for civic education clubs from selected senior high schools in the Tema Metropolis.

The competition featured eight second-cycle schools: Chemu SHS, Tema SHS, Our Lady of Mercy (OLAMS) SHS, Presbyterian SHS, Methodist Day SHS, Datus International SHS, Tema Industrial Mission Senior High and Technical School and Manhean Senior High Technical School.

He said the Constitution Game Competition formed part of the NCCE's outreach programme and advised students to use it to understand the provisions of the 1992 Constitution.

He commended the management of Chase Petroleum Ghana Limited for supporting the NCCE in Tema to revive the competition among the schools, pointing out that it was last held in 2012.

Chemu SHS took the first position with 125 points, followed by OLAMS SHS which had 120 points. Manhean Secondary Technical took the third position.

Tema SHS, which won the last edition of the competition, placed fourth. Presbyterian SHS, Methodist Day SHS, Industrial Mission and Datus International SHS followed in that order.

The top three schools were each presented with a trophy and a wall clock. All the participating schools were also presented with 10 copies each of the constitution and certificates of participation.
