DEKS Educational Institute holds Ghana Day

DEKS Educational Institute, Tema, has held a Ghana Day to celebrate and showcase the country’s cultural heritage.

The aim of the celebration was to showcase the cultural diversity of the 10 regions. The pupils, therefore, dressed in traditional clothes to portray the culture of their respective regions.

The pupils also put up performances to portray the unity the country continues to enjoy in spite of the diversity in culture and languages.

They called on politicians not to allow their desire to win political power to destroy the peace being enjoyed in the country.

The pupils also emphasised the need for voters and political activists to be civil in their daily interactions with others.

The General Manager of the School, Mr Mark Dei, in his welcome address, encouraged parents to teach children rich moral values since such values would define the identity of the future generation.

“By doing that, children will appreciate their culture, thereby, placing more premium on them than the western cultures which have 'corrupted' the Ghanaian society today”, he said.

The President of the Rotaract Club of the school, Master Ferdinand Lawson, used the occasion to solicit help from parents and guardians in support of the club which has embarked on a charity project for the children of the Osu Children’s Home.
