Children take part in Sanitation Day exercise

Some schoolchildren weeding and desilting a gutter during the second National Sanitation Day at Kuntanase-Mim in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.

In addition, they swept the main street leading to, and from the town.

The schoolchildren were actively involved in the exercise so as to acquire the habit of cleaning their environment to prevent the outbreak and spread of diseases.

The National Sanitation Day is held on the first Saturday of every month. It was instituted by the government to rid the country of filth.
