Togolese stars to perform at Alliance Française
The Alliance Françasie in Accra will on Tuesday, May 24, host a concert dubbed, “Electric Togoland” which would feature Togolese music stars based at home and abroad.
Artistes billed to perform include France-based guitarist, Amen Viana, King Mensah Adjoa Sika, Ali Bawa, Roger Damawuzan, Greg Zlap, François Gay, Alain Apaloo, Isa Gonzales, Kali Kamga and others who intend to revisit popular Ewe folktales with a rock twist.
Amen Viana is an eclectic player who has for the past 20 years been sharing his time between two musical continents: his ears in Western rock-funk and his heart in Africa.
King Mensah is one of the most popular musicians in Togo. Based in Lomé, he regularly records his albums in France and has embarked on several world tours.
Singing in Mina, Ewe and French, Mensah's sound fuses elements of traditional Ewe and Kabye dance-drum music with funk, reggae and Afropop.
Adjoa Sika’s vocal range covers several styles of music such as gospel, jazz, R&B, funk, neo-soul, opera, blues and reggae and she sings fluently in French, Ewe, Mina and English.
Organised by Amen Viana, Electric Togoland is being presented in collaboration with the Alliance Française in Accra and the Institut Français in the country.
