Fashion designers graduate from Riohs Originate
The tag line for the event was Joie de Vivre, a French phrase referring to cheerful enjoyment and that was the prevailing atmosphere last Saturday at the maiden graduation ceremony of the Riohs Originate Fashion School at Alliance Francaise in Accra.
Both graduands and patrons at the well-attended show seemed to be in a jolly mood as sleek models from the Exopa Model Agency with make-up by the Abrantie School of Cosmetology and Creative Art, hit the runway with smart designs for casual, beach, evening and bridal wear.
After their six months course at the school, located at Dzorwulu in Accra, the graduands displayed ample grasp of elements of fashion design such as fabric selection, shape and form, colour combination and seam lines.
The evening was not just about fashion. Local drinks such as pito, sobolo, asana, lamujin and palm wine flowed freely and there was also music and poetry to spice up proceedings. It was on the whole, a relaxing night that gave a strong pointer to how determined some of our young people were to break into the tough but exciting world of professional fashion design.
