Citizens 'fix' Dzata Cement as it trends on Twitter
A good number of tweets Wednesday morning are projecting and promoting Dzata Cement as the brand to patronize, with most of the tweets leaning towards nationalist/patriotic motivations.
News links to Dzata Cement, owned by Ibrahim Mahama, Engineers and Planners’ chairman and entrepreneur brother of former President John Mahama, point to a recent visit to the factory located in Tema by Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremateng.
The tweets mainly talk of Ibrahim Mahama’s industriousness and price differences between Dzata Cement and other cement brands, and among those rooting for him is Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong.
Mr Agyapong is seen a short video clip praising Mahama for daring to rub shoulders with the established brands, and adds that it is about time Ghanaians put politics aside to support good local causes. He even vows to instruct his workers to henceforth use on Dzata Cement in his works.
But the trail of tweets makes interesting reading, some making economic arguments, some political and mostly nationalistic.
Broadcaster Johnnie Hughes starts off with a pissing-in jab: the very people who were against Ibrahim Mahama are the ones now praising him.
Mr. Ibrahim Mahama is being praised by the very people who led others against him; threatening fire and brimstone upon him? Whew!#FixMotherGhanaNow

Dzata Cement Company is acknowledged as a fully Ghanaian-owned cement factory whose construction started in 2011 and currently operating at phase one (bagging) of an expected three phase construction. It targets to be the number one cement factory in Ghana when fully operational and projects to produce about three million tonnes annually.
