Access Bank’s ‘Sandal More’ Project transforms life of special Kwadzo
In an inspiring turn of events, Access Bank (Ghana) Plc has helped change the life of Kwadzo, a partially blind orphan from the Volta Region, through its charity initiative, ‘A Sandal More for a Better Tomorrow.’
The project, which provides schoolchildren with sandals made from upcycled car tyres, has become the catalyst for a brighter future for the young boy.
Kwadzo first came to the bank’s attention during a visit to Weta Basic School in the Volta Region, even though he was not a student there.
He had made his way to the school and received a pair of sandals from the Access Bank team. In a moment that resonated across the nation, Kwadzo offered a simple but powerful prayer of gratitude, which was captured on video and shared widely on social media. That heartfelt moment stirred emotions nationwide and drew immense support for the boy.
Moved by his story, Access Bank Ghana opened an account for Kwadzo, depositing GHS 20,000 to secure his future. Generous contributions from individuals in Ghana and abroad, including a sponsorship from a Ghanaian donor in the United States, enabled Kwadzo to enrol at Akropong School for the Blind.
During a recent visit to Access Bank Ghana, Kwadzo expressed his thanks once again, delivering another emotional prayer that touched the hearts of those present. Olumide Olatunji, Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, was visibly moved by the encounter.
“Kwadzo’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact of small acts of kindness on someone’s life. His gratitude, resilience, and unwavering spirit have inspired us all. At Access Bank, we are committed to going beyond financial services—we are here to change lives, build futures, and uplift communities,” said Olatunji.
Kwadzo’s journey, made possible by the ‘A Sandal More for a Better Tomorrow’ initiative, highlights how a simple gesture can open doors to unimaginable opportunities.
The project, which has reached numerous underprivileged children across the country, continues to make a lasting difference.
In a statemennt, Access Bank Ghana said it remained dedicated to expanding the initiative, ensuring that more children receive the support and opportunities they deserve.
