UEW withdraws 38 Students for poor performance

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has withdrawn 38 Level 100 students for failing to meet academic standards. 

The decision was announced in a statement on March 7, 2025.

The university’s action follows an audit of the students’ academic performance during their first and second semesters.

According to the university’s statement, the students did not achieve the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 1.0 or failed more than the allowed number of courses after resits.

The letter detailing the expulsion was signed by the acting Head of Department for Social Studies Education, Dr Mohammed Adam.

It stated that the affected students were ineligible to attend Level 200 lectures or participate in examinations for Level 200 courses.

The university emphasised that counselling was provided to the students prior to their dismissal.

The decision aligns with regulations outlined in the Revised Undergraduate Students’ Handbook.

Of the 38 students expelled, 32 did not meet the CGPA requirement, while six failed more than three courses.

The university instructed relevant departments to update their records accordingly.
