Renowned agent in town to recruit talents

Chris Nathaniel, a world renowned sports agent and founder of NVA Entertainment Group, is in the country to recruit football talents for the international market.

The UK-based agent, who currently manages Ghanaian youngster Edwin Gyasi, told the Daily Graphic in an interview last Tuesday that his vision, among other things, was to offer a different approach to the traditional football agency that people were used to.

Unlike the traditional football agencies, Nathaniel said he would consider a manageable number of talents where “everything they do on and off the football field is well taken care of right from nutritionist, extra training and anything they need to develop their talent”.

Aside from that, the talents are also protected against bad influence, as well as developed for life after football, citing Rio Ferdinand as one of the talents they have helped develop to become an entrepreneur of several businesses and a TV pundit after his football career.

Nathaniel, who has worked with several other high-profile talents, including John Terry, Samuel Eto’o, Wilfried Bony and Usain Bolt, said they intended to establish in the country soon to collaborate with the Ghana Football Association to identify talents to be taken outside.

According to him, the scope of their search will not be limited only to the academy but will also be spread to the local league and other avenues where talents can be spotted.

He said his agency was venturing into the African terrain for the first time and decided to choose Ghana because he traced his roots to the country and also due to the talents that abound here.
