Kotoko promise to recapture titles

The management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has assured the teeming supporters of the club of better times ahead as plans are underway to recruit quality players to help recapture their lost titles next season.

A statement signed by the General manager of Kotoko, Samuel Opoku Nti, yesterday recalled that “last season was a challenging one for the darling club as we failed to defend any of our titles won in the previous season.

“Efforts are being made by the board and management to recapture the trophies next season.”

It revealed that the recruitment committee, led by Coach David Duncan, was working assiduously to recruit some quality players to beef up the current squad, as was evidenced in the signing of goalkeeper Ernest Sowah.

“Taking our meeting with the owner and Life Patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the press release which followed into consideration, we believe that rumours of imminent change of the board and management must be put on ice till he speaks again.

“Management, therefore, entreats all stakeholders, especially our cherished supporters, to be calm and unwavering in their support for the club,” the statement stressed.

In respect of that, the statement said the club was focused on embarking on a wide range of initiatives under the guidance of Otumfuo, the Board and the Genral Manager.

“We’re making a significant progress but there is more to be done. The potential exists for Asante Kotoko SC to reach even greater heights in the future. All I ask for is unity from all facets of the club, which, I reckon, would be the recipe for getting to these heights,” it noted.

The management seized the opportunity to thank the teeming supporters of the club who rallied behind them through thick and thin during the past season, as well as the playing body and technical team for their respective contributions.
