Hearts ditch Rahim Ayew
An audacious bid by Accra Hearts of Oak to lure Rahim Ayew out of another foreign adventure has hit the rocks and the Phobians dreams of featuring the player in their league campaign this season has fizzled out.
Rahim, one of the sons of the maestro, Abedi Pele, had according to sources, been engaged in talks with the Phobians for a possible engagement ahead of the Premier League season which kicks off next week.
But the deal fell through yesterday, following Hearts failure to meet the demands of the player’s agent.
According to the source, Hearts were expected to part with GHc70,000 together with a grant of a free release of the player if he secured a new deal.
This, the Phobians found unreasonable and consequently pulled out of the deal as they closed the chapter on their registration for the 2013/2014 Premier League season.
Rahim has been in the country since his release by Belgian side, SK Lierse, and has had some training sessions with Tema-based Amidaus.
He has, however, dispelled rumours that he was on his way to the Tema-based side before he made the headlines about his intended move to join the Phobian camp.
The Phobians have, however, managed to sign on Sampson Cudjoe, another returnee, who was on loan to FC Honka of Finland.
