Ghana’s U-16 girls team defeat Malta 8-1 in opening match at UEFA Development Tournament

Ghana’s U-16 Girls’ team showcased a dominant performance, securing a resounding 8-1 win over Malta in their opening match at the UEFA Development Tournament at Centenary Stadium in Ta' Qali-Attard.

The match kicked off with Ghana taking the lead in the 15th minute when Seidatu Wahab calmly converted to give her side the advantage. Malta responded in the 31st minute, equalizing with a penalty.

However, Ghana quickly regained control. Just two minutes later, Priscilla Mensah put Ghana back in front, making it 2-1 by halftime.

The second half saw Ghana take full command of the game. Christiana Ashiaku delivered a brilliant performance, scoring twice in quick succession—first in the 47th minute, then again in the 52nd minute—pushing Ghana’s lead to 4-1.

Daniella Abass then took over, netting two goals of her own, in the 65th and 73rd minutes. Gloria Adomako Ameaa added to the tally with a goal in the 82nd minute, making it 7-1.

Wahab rounded off the dominant performance with her second goal in the 89th minute, sealing an 8-1 victory for Ghana.
