Black Queens to embark on Senegal tour in April for WAFCON preparations

Ghana’s national senior women’s football team, the Black Queens, will head to Senegal for a nine-day training camp as part of their preparations for the upcoming TotalEnergies Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Scheduled during the April FIFA window, the tour will include two international friendly matches against Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses in Dakar.

This training camp follows a similar one held in Morocco during the February FIFA window, organized by the Ghana Football Association.

The Senegal tour is a key part of the Black Queens’ buildup for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco from July 5-26, 2025.

Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s squad will face the Teranga Lionesses in two matches, set to take place within days of each other.

Coach Björkegren also plans to use this opportunity to evaluate and broaden his player pool in preparation for WAFCON.
