G/Sticks to topple Trustees in Dwadifo Adanfo Hockey League

Golden Sticks of the Ghana Commercial Bank could overtake Trustees at the summit of the men’s category of the Dwadifo Adanfo Greater Accra Hockey League, while Police are certain of a victory over Exchequers of the Central Bank as the sixth week matches swing into action today and tomorrow. League leaders, Trustees of SSNIT, have had some jolly moments lately but that ride could end prematurely as the defending champions, Golden Sticks, have promised their followers to recapture the top spot and to endorse their superiority in the game.

Trustees lead the pack on 12 points, three more than Golden Sticks who appeared to have found their rhythm just in time before the big clash.

Their biggest arsenal, Joseph Appiah, who made a return into the senior national team after a bizarre exclusion, holds the key to Golden Sticks victory.

His immaculate display of skills and speed coupled with good finishing power have always been the tramp card for the bankers fondly called Comma, but it remained to be seen how he would explode before a crack defensive line-up of Trustees marshalled around gifted Salya Insalbini.

Despite the experience of Golden Sticks, Trustees have a bunch of talented youth players and one of the best coaches in the league, Edmund Aryetey, who could change the outcome of the game.

Resurgent Police team who are three points adrift of second placed, Golden Sticks, face off with Exchequers who have not been impressive lately. Exchequers lie fourth on the table on four points and could sink further if they do not lift their game.

SAPHOLDA are likely to move to nine points if they beat hapless Veterans in the seniors’ league currently being led by NDK Financiers.

Also on the bill are Veterans Ladies versus Reformers of the Ghana Prisons Service, Police Ladies against Ark Ladies, Real Ambassadors clash with Tema Youth and La Juniors face off with Ark Boys.

Today, Ghana Revenue Authority (CEPS) engage Reformers also at the National Hockey Stadium.
