All set for Guiness Player Awards tonight

Tonight’s event is the second edition of the special award scheme put together by Proton Sports Limited (PSL) to reward both old and current players who excel in the various national teams.
The highlight of the night’s show will be the decoration of the Black Stars’ Most Valuable Player which is a keen contest among Fatau Dauda, Rabiu Mohammed and Mubarak Wakaso, who has also been pencilled for the Top Scorer award at the senior team level.
A special feature in this year’s ceremony is the introduction of the Golden Legends Award, which will see ex-internationals such as Adansi Fofie, George Alhassan, Mensah Aguadze, Dodoo Ankrah and Kwame Adarkwa being honoured for their contributions to Ghana Football in the past, while C.K. Gyamfi and Ben Koufie will also be honoured with special awards as coaches of the victorious 1963 and 1965 Black Stars Africa Nations Cup squads.

Another batch of players belonging to the old generation in line for honours is the 1998/99 Black Queens African Women’s Champions and World Cup squad comprising Memunatu Sulemana, Rita Yeboah, Regina Ansah, Elizabeth Baidu, Juliana Kakraba, Mavis Djangmah, Barikisu Tettey Quao, Alberta Sackey, Vivian Mensah, Adjoa Bayor, Kulu Yahaya, Lydia Ankrah, Mercy Tagoe, Nana Ama Gyamfua, Gladys Enti, Sheila Okine, Priscilla Mensah, Stella Quartey, Genevieve Clottey.
The other nominees are as follows: Black Starlets’ Top Scorer: Emmanuel Boateng; Most Valuable Player - Emmanuel Oti, Thomas Agyapong, Kingsley Fobi; Black Satellites’ Top Scorer: Ebenezer Assifuah; Most Valuable Player - Ebenezer Assifuah, Francis Narh; Black Maidens’ Top Scorer: Jane Ayieyam; Most Valuable Player - Sherifatu Sumaila, Jane Ayieyam, Priscilla Okyere.
The rest are Black Princesses’ Top Scorer: Elizabeth Addo; Most Valuable Player - Mercy Myles, Elizabeth Addo, Janet Egyir; Black Queens’ Most Valuable Player - Janet Egyir, Leticia Zikpi, Edem Atovor.
