International Women’s Day : Bagbin calls for stronger policies to empower women

Speaker of Parliament Alban S.K. Bagbin has called for stronger policies to promote gender equality and expand opportunities for women and girls in Ghana.

In a Facebook post shared on March 8 2025, to mark International Women’s Day, Mr Bagbin acknowledged the contributions of women to national development and stressed the need for collective efforts to remove barriers that hinder progress.

“As a firm advocate for gender equality, women’s empowerment, and their fundamental rights, I remain committed to championing policies and initiatives that create opportunities for women and girls to thrive,” he wrote.

He urged Ghanaians to work together to challenge inequalities and build a more inclusive society where women can fully participate in leadership, business, and other sectors.

International Women’s Day is observed globally to celebrate women’s achievements and advocate for gender parity across various fields.
