Floyd Mayweather stands firm that there's been no discussions about a rematch with Manny Pacquiao, saying that Pacquiao is only mentioning his name to try to sell tickets for his next fight.

Much to the surprise of Floyd Mayweather and Bob Arum alike, Manny Pacquiao has gone on record several times talking about negotiating a rematch with Floyd. Apparently this is all news to Pacquiao's own promoter and Floyd himself, who tells FightHype that there is no sequel in the works.

An international anti-doping commission has recommended that Russia's Athletics Federation be banned from international competition over widespread doping offences - a move that could see the powerhouse Russian team excluded from next year's Rio Olympics.

Achimota settles scores with Ikoyi

Achimota Golf Club last Saturday recorded a 76-23 score over their Nigerian counterparts from Ikoyi in their annual match play at the refurbished Achimota Golf Club.

The win avenged the Nigerians’ victory over the Frank Adu Jnr-led side in Lagos last year.  

Achimota took the lead on day one of the two-day shotgun event with a 23-6 score in the doubles match play. The host again dominated play when the format switched to a single play with an impressive 153-117 score on the second day to lift the prestigious trophy.

Over 25 international schools will battle for honours in this year's Inter School’s Football Gala and Swimming Competition slated for Saturday at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra.

The one-day event, organised by the Lizzy Sports Complex in partnership with the Global Media Alliance (GMA), aims to unearth talents among students aged between 8-16  from private primary and junior high schools.

According to the Director of Sport at the Lizzy Sports Complex,  Mr Jamil Maraby, the objective of the event was to inspire students to actively get involved in sports through swimming and football.

Nigeria retain FIFA U-17 title

Nigeria became only the second side to retain the FIFA U-17 World Cup with a 2-0 win against Mali in Vina Del Mar as the 2015 edition of the tournament came to an end last Sunday.

Victor Osimhen stole the show once again thanks to his record-breaking 10th goal of the tournament, with Funsho Bamgboye adding a second moments later. Goalkeeper Samuel Diarra had saved an early Osinachi Ebere penalty as the Malians played their part in an entertaining finale to Chile 2015.

Mourinho gets Abramovich backing

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho still retains the support of Blues owner Roman Abramovich and his position is not under immediate threat. The Blues lost at Stoke last Saturday with Mourinho absent as he served a one-game stadium ban.

The defeat was Chelsea's seventh in 12 Premier League games and leaves them three points above the relegation zone in 16th place. Mourinho's side face Norwich at Stamford Bridge on November 21.

The captain of the Celebrity Golf Club, Francis Akwasi Opoku, last Saturday pulled off a memorable host-and-win feat when he returned a net score of 73 to win the First Atlantic Bank 20th Anniversary Golf Invitational.

Opoku, playing with a handicap of five, capitalised on his familiarity with the Sakumono golf course to win a glittering crystal trophy and a trip to Royal Senchi. He recorded a gross of 78 which was enough to pip Norwegian golfer, Ole Ronald Aronsen on countback after they both returned the same net score of 73.

Judoists mark Japanese Week

The nation's finest judo and karate practitioners climaxed the Japanese Week Celebration with a display of competitive martial arts at the Accra Stadium.

The big winners in the two-day event dubbed; ‘Japanese Ambassador's Karate and Judo Championships’ were Commonwealth bronze medalist, judoka Razak Abugri, as well as female karateka specialist, Nadia Sackitey.

Abugri led the way in the men's judo 60-kilogramme category when he clinched gold after overpowering Jones Mintah in the final, while Bismark Yartey pipped Aldair Nyanga to third place.

Ghana midfielder, Derek Boateng, says he is close to ending his hiatus from football in January after receiving offers from two clubs.

Boateng has been clubless after completing a one-year deal with Spanish La Liga side, SD Eibar, last season and he appears to have traded his soccer boots for a golf club after being spotted several times at the Achimota Golf Club taking golf lessons.

Princesses qualify for World Cup after walloping Ethiopia 4-0

Ghana’s Under-20 women’s football team, Black Princesses Sunday secured one of Africa’s two tickets for next’s year Women’s World Cup (WWC) with an emphatic win over Ethiopia in their final qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Though the Princesses needed just a draw to qualify, they took care of business and sealed qualification in style with a 4-0 win, courtesy a brace each from Sandra Owusu-Ansah and Princella Adubea, thus securing a 6-2 aggregate result, having drawn 2-2 in the first leg in Addis Ababa.

Nigeria, Mali set up African final

Nigeria and Mali have set up an all-African final at the Under-17 World Cup in Chile after winning their semi-finals on Thursday.

Reigning champions Nigeria won 4-2 against Mexico, coming back from conceding the opener and then pulling away again after Mexico made it 2-2. Mali also fought back from a goal down to earn a 3-1 victory over Belgium. The African sides will go head-to-head for the trophy on Sunday at the Estadio Sausalito in Vina del Mar.

Football match in memory of Eric Amankwah

All is set for the special football match tomorrow in memory of  Eric Amankwah, a former player of the Black Stars and now defunct Akosombo Akotex.

The match, which takes place at the Akosombo Presbyterian School park, will involve  two local clubs, Muzuu Football Academy based at Anchiase in the Asuogyaman District and an Akosombo Select Side.

It will be preceded by the burial ceremony and final funeral rites of  Eric Amankwah at Akosombo.

Kotoko Faithfuls donate to orphanage

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Faithfuls have donated variety of items, comprising foodstuffs, toiletries and clothing worth GH¢2,000 and an undisclosed amount to Save Our Lives Ghana Orphanage at Anwiankwanta in the Ashanti Region as part of their collective social responsibility.

The owner of the orphanage, Madam Paulina Opei, a trained midwife, received the items and cash on behalf of the inmates and expressed her profound gratitude to the group for such a wonderful gesture towards the enhancement of the lives of the children. She further appealed for more from the Faithfuls and other supporters groups.
