The local league is likely to start next season without a sponsor following a decision by the headline sponsors, First Capital Plus Bank, to suspend its contract with the football governing body.
This was confirmed on Thursday by Mr Welbeck Abra-Appiah, the outgoing chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB), organisers of the domestic league.
Speaking to the Graphic Sports, the PLB boss said the news came as a surprise to him and wondered why the management of the bank waited till about a month to the start of the league to call for the suspension of the contract.
