Terkper presents mid-year review of budget to Parliament
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr Seth Terkper, will appear before Parliament on Wednesday to present a mid-year review of the budget statement and economic policy of the government for the 2014 financial year.
It is not clear whether he would present a supplementary budget as well.
When the Majority Leader, Dr Benjamin Bewa-Nyog Kunbuor, announced the minister's scheduled appearance in the House last Friday, the Ranking Member of the Finance Committee, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, sought to know whether the minister would also present a supplementary budget, but the Speaker, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, reminded the member that budget reviews did not necessarily come with supplementary estimates.
However, he said if the minister came along with a supplementary budget for approval, the House would consider it.
Mr Terkper would also tell the House what had occasioned the arrears in the payment of statutory funds.
Minister of Interior
The Minister of the Interior, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, is also scheduled to appear before the House on Friday, July 18, to brief members on the security situation in Bimbilla.
The meeting will, however, be held behind closed doors.
The overlord of Bimbilla was killed recently by some unknown persons and Members of Parliament (MPs) have expressed fear that the situation may degenerate into a full-blown chieftaincy conflict if security is not strengthened in the area and the perpetrators of the heinous crime brought to book.
Dr Kunbuor urged all members to be present and actively participate in the deliberations with the minister.
Other items in business statement
The ministers of Food and Agriculture; Roads and Highways; Health; and Water Resources, Works and Housing will appear before the House to answer questions from members.
Bills, papers and reports will be laid and presented before the House.
The controversial Plant Breeder's Bill will be taken through the consideration stage.
