NDC mourns Maulvi Wahab Adam
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed condolence to the Ahmadi Muslim Mission in Ghana following the death of the Ameer and Missionary-in-Charge, Maulvi Wahab Adam.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Maulvi Adam, especially his wife and the entire family who are at the centre of grieve and mourning, the Ahmadis in Ghana and, the entire Muslims community across the globe,” a statement issued by the party on Wednesday and signed by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary, said.
Maulvi Wahab Adam died on Sunday after a spell of ill-health and will be buried Wednesday.
According to the NDC, he was among the highly respected clerics whose character and conduct helped re-established Islam on firm footing in Ghana. “We saw him as a great counselor with a passion for the enhancement of religion and education as vital human resource base for the country’s socio-economic and political development.
“Maulvi Adam could also be fondly remembered for his interest in the peace, development and consolidation of democracy in Ghana. This culminated in his consistent and active participation in fora and programs that offered platforms for the education of the citizenry on issues of multi-party system of governance.”
The party said it was no wonder he won the admiration and respect of the late President and leader of the NDC, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, who appointed him to the high office of membership at the Ghana Peace Council.
He was also a member of the National Reconciliation Commission.
“The NDC believe Maulvi Adam will be remembered for his effort to help establish peace in Ghana today and for posterity.
“May his soul rest in the bosom of Allah.”
