
Constitution Review Committee expands national validation engagement to Sunyani
The Constitution Review Committee (CRC) has revised its schedule for the national validation zonal engagements to include Sunyani, following public outcry over its initial omission.
The committee's release on March 7, 2025, listed regional capitals where the engagements would take place but Sunyani, the Bono regional capital, was noticeably absent.
“The committee is pleased to inform the general public that the National Validation Zonal Engagements will now take place per the revised schedule below, with the inclusion of a zonal engagement in Sunyani,” A release dated March 10 and issued by the Secretary to the committee, Dr Rainer Akumperigya said.
Revised schedule
Per the revised scheduled, the zonal engagements would be held in Accra, representing zone one, from April 7 to 8; Tamale/Bolgatanga, zone two, April 10 to 11; Wa, zone three, April 14 to 15; Sunyani, zone four, April 22 to 23; Kumasi, zone five, April 25 to 26; Takoradi/Cape Coast, zone six, 29 to 30; Koforidua, zone seven, May 5 to 6 and Ho, zone eight, May 8 to 9.

The National Validation Zonal Engagements are part of the ongoing constitutional review process.

The committee commenced its stakeholder consultations on key constitutional matters yesterday, March 12, which would last till March 20.
In its March 7 release, the committee said to facilitate the targeted consultations, it was inviting written contributions from a wide range of stakeholders, including experts in particular areas, relevant public institutions, professional bodies, trade unions, civil society organisations, political parties and members of the public.
It said the consultations would focus on a variety of themes and encouraged stakeholders to submit their views by the following deadlines: Lands and Natural Resources and Decentralisation, Local Government and Chieftaincy: Submission by March 12.
That of the Public Services and Enterprises will be on March 15, Executive Advisory Councils (Council of State, IGP, Police Service Council, Armed Forces Service Council, National Security Council), Independent Constitutional Bodies/Offices and Directive Principles of State Policy, Social and Economic Rights, NDPC and Political Parties submission will be on March 20.
The release said the rest were Political Branches (Executive and Legislature), the Judiciary and other areas (Finance, Central Bank, Public Debt Management, Discretionary Power, Dual Citizenship, Amendment Procedure), submission will also be on March 20.
The committee said it has set up channels for submissions of memoranda: Email Submissions — Memoranda could be sent electronically to submissions@constitutionreviewgh.org: Interactive website for Online Submissions & Public Engagement —www.constitutionreviewgh.org and In-Person Submissions — Written submissions and supporting documents may be delivered to the CRC secretariat.
