Former Prez Rawlings, NDC congratulate Muslims
Former President Jerry John Rawlings and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have conveyed their felicitations to Ghanaian Muslims and non-Muslims on the occasion of the end of the period of Ramadan.
In separate messages, the former President and the party commended the Muslim faithful for their religious commitment which saw them endure 30 days of fasting and prayers.
“Let me congratulate all Muslims for the successful conclusion of the period of Ramadan. Your 30-day period of fast is aimed at cleansing us of our sins and renewing our relationship with Allah,” the former President said as part of his keynote address at the 40th-anniversary durbar of the June 4 uprising at Nungua last Tuesday.
Happy celebrations
“As you break your fast with the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, we all join you in giving thanks to Allah for His generous guidance and protection. Eid Mubarak to all our brothers and sisters,” he concluded.
The NDC, in its message signed by its General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said: “May the forgiveness and closeness to Allah we sought during the blessed month of Ramadan be showered upon us together with the bounties and mercies of Allah.”
The NDC, in that regard, the statement said, prays for “peace, prosperity and ease in the economic hardships that Ghanaians of all walks are suffering now. We pray that Allah gives our leaders the wisdom, patience, compassion and strength to lead us to a better and more prosperous Ghana that cares for the poor and the vulnerable among us”.
