The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong who confirmed the incident to Graphic Online said the attackers came at the time Mr Opoku was in his residence, but added the MP was not hurt.

He said earlier on Friday, March 30, 2018 the police provided Mr Opoku with armed men for his protection because of the last attack, but Mr Opoku requested that the police men should go and perform their patrol duties.

The names of the three injured persons have been given as Thomas Amponsah, Adams Seidu alias Red and Apostle Timothy.

The attackers allegedly damaged three of Mr Opoku’s vehicles; a Toyota Landcruiser with registration number AE 9449-14, a KIA Spectra with registration number AE 2667-13 and VW Passat also with registration number AE 3328-14 as well as damaged the metal gate and widows of his house.

They were also alleged to have stolen Seidu’s GH¢10,400.00, a television set and a decoder during the attack

The three injured persons have since received medical attention at the Star of Hope Hospital at Sankore where they were treated and discharged same day.

Chief Inspector Oppong said the attackers who reportedly held guns, cutlasses, sticks, stones and other offensive weapons amidst the chanting and singing of war songs after attacking Mr Opoku moved to Amponsah’s house and inflicted cutlass wounds on him.

He said they later continued to Seidu’s house and attacked him with the same weapons and allegedly bolted with his money and other items.
Chief Inspector Oppong added that the last spot of the armed men was Apostle Timothy’s house where they inflicted cutlass wounds him as well.

He said the attackers bolted when they had an information of the presence of the police.

He added it was a concerned citizen who placed a distress phone call to the police at Kukuom.

He said the police has since appealed to the people of Sankore and the general public to provide them with information that would lead to the arrest of the attackers adding that calm has since returned to Sankore and its surrounding communities.
