Ablekuma North MP supports Muslims

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ablekuma North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mr Justice Joe Appiah, has commended Muslims and Christians, the two largest religious sects in the country, for peacefully co-existing over the years. That, Justice Appiah appealed, should be sustained to boost the peace the nation was enjoying, as well as investor confidence to enhance the nation’s development.

The MP stated this in Accra when he presented 150 bags of rice and 60 cartons of cooking oil valued at  GH¢18, 600.00 to Muslims in the constituency during the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha on Tuesday.

Religious and opinion leaders of the Islamic religion, Justice Appiah said, should roll out a continuous educational programme to educate and sensitise Muslim youth not to allow themselves to be enticed with money or other material things to indulge in violent acts, especially during elections in the country.

“The rather unfortunate perception that Muslims are violent should be removed once and for all because the perception is not true,” he said.  Justice Appiah was of the opinion that a true Muslim would not under any circumstance resort to violence.

On behalf of the Muslims, Hajia Tule Sule expressed appreciation to the MP for his kind gesture, and expessed the hope that the love among people of different faiths in the country would continue.

Hajia Sule pledged that as mothers, Muslim women would try and advise their children to guard against manipulation by selfish persons, especially politicians, since in the event of any upheavals or conflicts, women and the aged were the most vulnerable.
