Veep meets Ntotroso chief’s request. Donates bus to nursing college

The vice president, Mr Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has presented a 52-seater Mercedes Benz bus to the Ntotroso College of Nursing at Ntotroso in the Asutifi North District in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The gesture is in fulfilment of a request made by the Ntotrosohene, Barimah Twereku Ampem III, to the Vice-President during his visit to the area some months ago.

Presenting the bus to the ecstatic students, the Vice-President said the government considered education a priority, for which reason it would continue to invest substantially in the sector to secure the future of the youth.

“The government values all forms of education and, therefore, we will continue to invest in the sector to support the development and progress of our country,” he indicated.

He lauded the chiefs and people of Ntotroso for committing resources to invest in the education of the youth and expressed the government’s resolve to complement their efforts in the development drive.

Collaboration

He said the government would continue to work closely with traditional authorities in the country to ensure accelerated development at the local level.

The Ntotroso College of Nursing was established three years ago as a collaboration between the Ntotroso Traditional Council and the Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation.

It currently has a student population of 820, out of which more than 500 are from the Asutifi North District.

Mr Amissah-Arthur reiterated the importance of education to the individual and society and entreated parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards were not only enrolled in schools but also made to complete their respective courses of study.

He assured the students that with the good policies and programmes put in place for the overall development of the country, a continuity in government would enable the Mahama-led administration to successfully complete the projects it had rolled out for the country.

Appreciation

Barimah Ampem expressed appreciation to the government for providing the district with not only its fair share of the national cake but also the critical needs of the people to improve on their living conditions.

He appealed for further interventions in the areas of roads and health facilities.
