STC signs agreement for staff training
The Intercity STC Coaches Limited (STC) has signed an agreement with an aviation and hospitality academy to facilitate the training of cabin crew for its coaches.
Under a five-year agreement, the academy, Aptec, will train the cabin crew of STC, while the company allows students of the academy to do practical attachment or internship at the STC.
In his remarks at the signing ceremony in Accra, the Managing Director of STC, Mr Samuel Nuamah Donkor, said interns who comported themselves during the period could be considered for employment .
He explained that the introduction of a cabin crew by the company was aimed at enhancing comfortability and the safety of customers and was one of the initiatives being implemented to revamp the STC.
It is currently on a pilot basis and available on only a couple of international routes but would eventually be rolled out on all the company’s routes across the country and beyond, Mr Donkor said.
Customer delight
For his part, the Executive Director of Aptech, Mr Marcus Obeng-Sika, expressed optimism that the cabin crew initiative would contribute greatly to the company’s effort at regaining its past glory.
He thanked the management of the STC for guaranteeing students of the academy the opportunity for practical attachment for the next five years.
During a short ride around the capital in one of its new buses after the signing ceremony, the Daily Graphic journalist observed that the new buses had some features similar to those of an airplane.
The 50-seater comfortable bus has a place of convenience, kitchen, rest room, adjustable seats, foot support and seats with attached tables, among other features.
