Spiritualist grabbed for fraud

A fifty-year-old man, Seidu Nuhu, from Wasa Dadieso near Wasa Akropong in the Western Region, has been arrested by the police for defrauding a farmer of  GH¢3,000 at Nyamebekyere near Mankraso in the Ahafo Ano South District in the Ashanti Region.

Nuhu has been arrested at his hideout by the Mankraso Police and he is assisting the them in investigations.

Briefing The Mirror, the Mankraso District Police Commander, Superintendent Benjamin Kwadwo Gyasi, said Nuhu introduced himself to Abdulai Salifu, 28, as a spiritualist who could help him to extract gold on his farm.

He said in the course of the interaction, Nuhu demanded GH¢3,000 in May, this year under the pretext of buying some items for a ritual on the farm before the gold extraction.

He said Salifu, having waited for a while and not able to reach Nuhu on his mobile phone, quickly informed the Mankraso Police.

Superintendent Gyasi said after a complaint was lodged with the police, a brother of Salifu, Charles Nicholas, alerted the police and feigned interest in getting similar assistance from Nuhu to help extract gold on his farm.

He said Nuhu agreed to meet Nicholas at Dunkwa to discuss the procedure for the rituals.

According to Superintendent Gyasi, Nuhu was subsequently arrested at Dunkwa in the Central Region on September 3, 2013 and has been in police custody.
