Akufo-Addo visits Nigeria - Leaves for Zambia on state visit today

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, went to Nigeria on Sunday for a day’s visit. The purpose of the visit was not disclosed.

Meanwhile, the President who returned home on Sunday will leave for Zambia on Monday for a three-day state visit at the invitation of the Zambian President, Edgar Lungu.

At a media briefing on May 29, 2017, in Accra, Zambia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Harry Kalaba, stated that President Akufo-Addo would visit Zambia from June 26 to 29, 2017.

Mr Kalaba said Zambia recognised the importance of enhancing cooperation with other African countries in achieving sustainable development.

Activities in Zambia

While in Zambia, President Nana Akufo-Addo will hold bilateral talks with President Lungu and will be the special guest of honour at the opening of the fifth Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola.

Ghana’s exemplary democracy

Speaking to journalists during the inauguration in Accra, President Lungu said Ghana was a testament that democracy in Africa had alive and was a well-entrenched system of governance for African countries to embrace.

Need to strengthen ties

Later, President Lungu conferred with President Akufo-Addo on the need to strengthen ties between the two countries whose relations were historical.

President Akufo-Addo accepted the invitation by President Lungu for the Ghanaian leader to visit Zambia to further cement ties between the two countries.
