Pentecost Hospital acquires X-ray unit, blood bank
A new blood bank and an x-ray unit at the Pentecost Hospital at Madina in Accra have been inaugurated.
The two units were constructed at GH¢300,000 by the hospital with support from the Madina and Teshie branches of the Church of Pentecost.
They are meant to enhance service delivery at the facility, with the ultimate aim of providing quality care for clients.
The hospital serves the health needs of both members and non-members of the church in the La-Nkawntanang and surrounding areas.
Role of church
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Opoku Onyinah, said the responsibility of the church was not limited to the spiritual growth of its members as it extended to their physical well-being.
“We, as a church, have a duty to provide for the sick in society. These two centres are, therefore, part of our duty to help people who required such services,” he said.
He stated that as part of efforts to curb the spread of cholera, the church had embarked on educational campaigns to educate its members on how to properly manage waste.
He mentioned that the centres would augment the services provided by the hospital and appealed to the workers of the facility to discharge their duties professionally.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the La-Nkwantanang –Madina Municipal Assembly, Mr Franklin P. Anku, said the establishment of the centres would improve healthcare delivery in the municipality.
He attributed the cholera outbreak in the municipality to poor environmental hygiene practices and stated that the assembly had embarked on an environmental health campaign to curb the spread of the disease.
