Nurse donates to accident centre at Korle Bu
The accident centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra lacks some vital equipment needed for its effective operations.
These include cardiac monitors, pulse oxy-meter, X-ray reviewer, oxygen flow meter, nasal prongs, face masks and screens.
This was made known during a presentation of some items to the centre by a Ghanaian nurse based in the United States of America (USA), Ms Josephine Osafo.
Items
The items included assorted drinks, biscuits, sugar, rice, cooking oil and detergents.
Ms Osafo also donated an undisclosed amount of money to the centre.
She later made a similar donation to the children’s ward of the hospital.
Appreciation
A Principal Nursing Officer at the centre, Ms Beatrice Ahiakonu who received the items on behalf of the hospital, said accident cases in Accra and other parts of the country were referred to the centre.
She however, noted that the centre had not received the needed attention from the public and the government over the years, leading to its current state.
Ms Ahiakonu therefore, urged the public to emulate Ms Osafo’s, example and come to the aid of the centre.
