The President of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP), Ghana, Mr John Wilson, has led members of the governing council to pay a working visit to the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, in his office in Accra.

Mr  Wilson said he was grateful to the minister for receiving them and welcomed him to office as the new Minister of Employment and Labour Relations.

He explained that the membership of IHRMP was made up of specialists in the field of Human Resource and as such capable of taking up a wide variety of training programmes and consultancies on behalf of the ministry.

Mr Wilson recommended to the minister, the “Tripod” approach to management, which promotes trust, respect and effective communication as essentials for stability at the workplace.

He said if it was taken up, it would go a long way to prevent strikes and disputes between employers and employees.

Mr Iddrisu assured the delegation of his readiness to work with the IHRMP to train and develop the human resource of the country in order that it would attract investments.

He noted that investors considered the quality of a country’s workforce before taking investment decisions.

The ministry, he said, was interested in collaborating closely with IHRMP to enable it to take advantage of the expertise the association offered.

The minister was informed of the upcoming annual general meeting of the IHRMP scheduled to be held at the Accra International Conference Centre tomorrow  November 7, 2014.
