VIDEO: Kweku Baako declines UPSA honorary doctorate

The Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr has turned down an honorary doctorate degree that was to be conferred on him by the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) in July.

The Governing Council of UPSA had approved the nomination of Mr Baako for the honour in recognition of his training and support for public interest journalism in the country in a letter dated May 10, 2021.

However, the celebrated veteran journalist who has in the past turned down similar honours says he won't accept it.

Speaking on Joy FM's Newsfile show on Saturday, Mr Baako said "the same story will happen".

"I'm aware of other universities that have tried to do this for Kweku Baako but he's been running away from it so let's see what will happen this time when the UPSA says it will confer the degree on him," the host said

"Same story will happen," Mr Baako responded.

"Same story will happen?" the hosted quizzed.

"Exactement [French for 'exactly]," he responded.
