Kenyasi is Asutifi District capital ; Says Kenyasi No. 1 Traditional Council
The Kenyasi No.1 Traditional Council has stated that the capital of the Asutifi District of the Brong Ahafo Region is Kenyasi.
The Omanhene of the area, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, dismissed a statement attributed to the Omanhene of Kenyasi No.2, Odeneho Dadiako Nsiah Ababio, that Kenyasi No. 2 is the district capital.
Kenyasi No.1 and Kenyasi No.2 are twin towns.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic at Kenyasi No.1, Nana Osei Kofi said the Daily Graphic of Saturday, March 14, 2015, published a news item in which Odeneho Nsiah Ababio described Kenyasi No.2 as the district capital of Asutifi.

He said the publication had created confusion among citizens in and outside Kenyasi No.1 Traditional Area.
Nana Abiri explained that the Local Government Ministry, in its gazetted document during the creation of the Asutifi District, named Kenyasi No.1 as the district capital.
However, during an assembly meeting, members of the then assembly unanimously agreed in principle that for the sake of unity, the capital should be called Kenyasi.
He added that even letters from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to the district still referred to Kenyasi No.1 as the district capital.
Again, Nana Abiri dismissed suggestions that Kenyasi No. 2 was the host community of Newmont Ghana Gold Limited Ahafo Mine.
He stated that the mining company was being hosted by three communities, namely Kenyasi No.1, Kenyasi No.2 and Ntotoroso.
He, therefore, stressed the need for people to check their facts before making similar statements in the future to ensure that the long-existing peace among the two traditional areas was not disrupted.
