
Mining support association commits to responsible practices
The Ghana Mining Support Service Providers Association has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government in promoting responsible, safe, and environmentally friendly mining practices in the country.
According to the association's President, Isaac Owusu Nantakyi Brempong, the organisation was dedicated to enforcing ethical mining practices and supporting community sensitisation efforts to eradicate illegal mining.
In an interview, Mr Owusu Nantakyi Brempong emphasised the association's readiness to collaborate with the government in establishing the National Plant Pools. This initiative aims to provide small-scale miners with access to modern and efficient mining equipment, ensuring adherence to environmentally friendly and responsible mining practices.
The association believes that this initiative aligns with its vision of a sustainable mining industry that contributes to national development while preserving natural resources for future generations.

Mr Owusu Nantakyi Brempong stated, "We share in the government's commitment to sustainable development and the creation of a prosperous and equitable Ghana."
Umbrella
The association, which serves as the umbrella organisation for medium, small-scale, and artisanal mining support service providers, congratulated President John Mahama on his election victory.
They pledged to work with him to combat the menace of illegal mining, recognising the detrimental effects it has on the environment, communities and the economy.
Mr Owusu Nantakyi Brempong acknowledged the challenges posed by illegal mining and reiterated the association's commitment to supporting the government in tackling this pressing issue.
He emphasised that the association was a key stakeholder in the country's mining ecosystem and was dedicated to collaborating with the government to drive Ghana's mining sector towards sustainability and growth.
Congratulations
The President of the association congratulated the Minister designate for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, and the acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi, on their appointments.
He noted that their appointments reflected the administration's commitment to putting competent and visionary leaders in critical positions to drive Ghana's mining sector forward.
“We have no doubt that the minister designate and the acting managing director will bring their expertise and experience to bear on the development of the mining sector," Mr Owusu Nantakyi Brempong said.
"We look forward to working with them to address the challenges facing the sector and to promote sustainable mining practices in Ghana," he added.
