3rd Ga West Presbytery Clerk assumes office
A Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rev. Kennedy Asante Sarpong, has assumed office as the new Ga West Presbytery Clerk.
He takes over from Rev. Dr Joseph Kofi Antwi who has ended his four-year tenure as the second Clerk of the youngest Presbytery of the PCG.
A handing over ceremony has been held to formally bid Rev Dr Antwi farewell and to welcome his successor, Rev. Asante Sarpong, the third person to hold that office.
Also, at the ceremony, Adwoa Annor Boakye was sworn in as the new Lay Representative of Ga West Presbytery to the General Assembly Council (GAC), succeeding Benjamin Botwe.
Both Rev. Asante Sarpong and Mrs. Boakye were elected during the eighth Presbytery Session held in New Weija District.
Their tenure commenced on September 1, 2024, coinciding with the beginning of the ecclesiastical year of the church.
The Chairperson of the Ga West Presbytery, Rev. Enoch Adjei Pobee, in his brief remarks, reflected on Psalm 100 and noted that four years ago, the Lord, through His church, Rev. Dr Antwi and Mr Botwe, who have discharged their duties creditably, despite some challenges.
He mentioned some of the challenges as helping the Presbytery to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
Rev. Pobee said they ensured that the Presbytery thrived through their diligence, innovativeness and by the grace and direction of God.

Handing over, Rev. Dr Antwi, said administratively the Clerk is in charge, but the Chairperson is the head of the Presbytery and advised Rev. Asante Sarpong, to recognise that to ensure that they both enjoyed the support required in their respective roles.
Rev. Sarpong and Mrs. Boakye, pledged to do their best to move the Presbytery forward, trusting in God's guidance and support of all.

The Ga West Presbytery is the 21st presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
Carved out of the Ga Presbytery in 2016, Rev. Daniel Amoako Nyarko and Rev. Philip Annan Nmai served as the first chairperson and Clerk respectively
