GGBL inaugurates Domeabra WaterHealth centre
Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd (GGBL) has inaugurated a 65,000-litre WaterHealth centre for residents of Domeabra, a community in the Ahafo Ano District in the Ashanti Region. The GH¢160,000 centre was funded by GGBL and the Diageo Foundation.
The centre is set to sustainably satisfy the water needs of over 4,500 people in the community.
The centre was inaugurated with the support of Mr Adu Johnson, the Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano, and Nana Abrasor Amponsah, Queen of Domeabra.
The Corporate Relations Director of GGBL, Ms Preba Greenstreet, said: ‘Access to safe drinking water is fundamental to the socio-economic development, health and wellbeing of every community.”

The Domeabra WaterHealth Centre is the eighth of such centres the GGBL has funded over the last two years in communities across Ghana.
Mr Adu Johnson lauded GGBL for choosing to invest in the community and tasked the leadership and community members to take ownership of and protect the facility.
The ceremony was attended by the District Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano South, Mr Gabriel Barimah, and officials from the district assembly.
WaterHealth centres are small modular structures that house water purification equipment to treat locally available water through a combination of sedimentation, pre-filtration and ultra violet technology. Each centre produces quality water that is available for a nominal usage fee on site or pumped to additional distribution points depending on the size and density of the community.
GGBL, through its flagship Water of Life programme, has since 2007 provided access to clean drinking water to thousands of Ghanaians across all the 10 regions of the country.
