Egyptian President al Sisi receives African journalists
The government of the Arab Republic of Egypt recently invited 25 senior journalists from various African countries on a media visit to the country.
The invitation was made through the Egyptian Agency of Partnerships for Development (EAPD) and the Egyptian Embassies of the various countries and it provided the media practitioners the opportunity to acquire first-hand knowledge of business, foreign, tourist and other social activities that take place in the country.
The visit was to enable journalists to present Egyptian issues from an informed and African viewpoint.
The journalists paid a courtesy call on the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah al Sisi, as well as the Foreign Minister, Mr Sameh Shokry, and officials of the EAPD, the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs and the State Information Service.
They also visited the Al Masry Al Youm and the AL Ahram newspapers, as well as the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
Additionally, they had a cruise on the newly inaugurated Suez Canal which was built in a record time of one year, instead of the earlier estimated three years.
The media practitioners who were from Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Congo, Niger, South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroun and Djobouti, were also conducted round various historical monuments such as the Pyramids in Giza, the Qaitbay Citadel, the National Museum and Planetarium; the Grand Egyptian Museum and Biblioteca Alexandria Library.
