Bishop Dag dedicates ‘Qadesh’ at Bortianor
The Founder and General Overseer of the Lighthouse Chapel International, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, has dedicated a new cathedral for the church at New Bortianor, close to the Kasoa tollbooth.
Known as Qadesh, a Hebrew word for ‘a Holy Place’, the cathedral can seat more than 7,000 congregants, higher than any auditorium in the country.
The cathedral complex is sited on a six-acre land and besides its main auditorium, it also houses offices for pastors, a boardroom for pastoral meetings, a wedding chapel and a terrace for receptions.
The Qadesh also has four different chapels for young people of various ages. A lawyer and reverend minister, Bishop E.A.T. Sackey, is the Head Pastor and Resident Bishop of the Qadesh.
The Qadesh is about the fourth monumental installation of the Lighthouse Chapel International, coming after the Qodesh, the global headquarters of the church, the Anagkazo Bible School and the International
Lighthouse Children’s Home (Orphanage), both at Mampong-Akuapem.
The cathedral dedication was done during this year’s Mountain of the Lord Conference, an annual conference which draws attendance of thousands of Christians from different branches of the Qodesh Family Church (QFC), a denomination within the church, from around the world.
God's kingdom priority
Bishop Heward-Mills encouraged Christians to seek the kingdom of God in everything they did, irrespective of one’s position and aspirations in life, stating that seeking God first would guide the believer through.
"Whether you are a banker, a teacher or a doctor, whatever you are doing, seek ye first the kingdom of God and you shall be blessed. As we look unto him, he will give us the way to do things in life,” he advised.
Bishop Heward-Mills urged Christians to follow the vision of the Lord rather than depend on their own understanding.
Dedicating the building, he prayed that persons who worshipped there be set free from any bondage.
"Anyone who comes here will be removed from captivity. Anybody who comes here will be healed of any diseases. Let the angels ascend from here to the heavens with our prayers and supplications to the heavens, and let the heaven come down to us,” he prayed.
The medical doctor and evangelist added: “Until we are dead, we shall continue to build more churches for Christ and the more we build, the more Lord will bless us.”
Transformation
For his part, Bishop Sackey commended the general overseer for his encouragement and support in putting up the cathedral.
He said it took two years to build the cathedral complex, adding that when they first moved to Bortianor, they worshipped in a tent.
Bishop Sackey said since the church began operating at Bortianor, there had been transformation in the lives of many people, especially young people, who could have otherwise been involved in vices.
