Bamson renovates Adum Presby JHS

Bamson Company Limited, local representatives of Akzo-Nobel Sikkens, Holland has repainted the Adum Presbyterian Junior High School in Kumasi to give it a facelift as part of its corporate social responsibility activities to round off the company’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

The Ashanti Regional Manager of Bamson, Mr Welbeck Onwona-Nyarko, who handed over the refurbished school block to the Presbyterian Education Unit at a ceremony in Kumasi last Thursday, said the GH ¢35,000 renovation project was the company’s contribution to the improvement of educational infrastructure in the country.

“As a business entity that operates in Adum, the management of Bamson deems it worthwhile to support the residents, especially in the area of education,” he said.

He noted that Bamson, which also represents Crown Paints, United Kingdom (UK), recently supported a number of schools in the Affram Plains in line with the company’s educational development policy, adding that it also repainted the Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, “because we believe that education and health are fundamental to the development of the country”.

The Kumasi District Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Moses Opoku Agyemang, commended the company for giving the school a befitting facelift.

He said in order to enhance effective teaching and learning in educational institutions, it was incumbent on stakeholders and corporate bodies to always offer such timely assistance, adding that the government alone could not shoulder all the responsibilities.

Rev Agyemang, on behalf of the church, in turn handed over the renovated building to the Ashanti Regional Deputy Manager of Presbyterian Schools, Mrs Eunice Amfo-Akonnor, and tasked the teachers and authorities of the school to put the school block to good use.

Mrs Amfo-Akonnor expressed delight at the increasing number of parents who have been visiting the school after the renovation to seek admission for their wards, because they found the school’s structures attractive.

She expressed her gratitude to Bamson and urged the company to continue to support the Presbytery. She also called on other philanthropists and institutions to emulate the kind gesture and assist the school to tar its compound to stop dust in the area from disrupting teaching and learning.
