EPP Books Services donates to 37 Military Hospital
EPP Books Services, a distributor of books in Ghana, has donated a variety of academic books valued at GH¢310,000 to the Nursing and Midwifery College and Post-graduate School at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
The donation, which formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, also saw the company donating some laptops and 10 chairs to furnish the library of the two schools.
Support the schools
Presenting the items at a ceremony in Accra, the Territorial Manager of EPP Books, Mr Faisal Ibrahim Cisse, said the presentation followed a pledge made to the two institutions about a year ago when the chief executive officer of the company visited the libraries of the institution.
He said the company also considered the hospital to be one of the most valuable assets of the country as far as quality health service delivery was concerned, and expressed the hope that the items would go a long way to improve the quality of teaching and learning at the schools.
“This hospital is known world-wide to be one that delivers quality health service with empathy, patience and urgency and we are happy to be part of your success story as a contributor through this donation to the students of the school”, he said.
Projects
On projects that the company would be undertaking this year, Mr Cisse hinted that EPP Books was committed to playing its role in the academic development of Ghanaians in general.
Therefore, he said, the company would be rolling out two projects, namely “Stock Your Library Project”, and “Adopt a School Project” to enhance the delivery of quality education in the country.
Under the “Stock Your Library Project”, he said, the company would support a good number of educational institutions across the country by stocking their libraries with books from the company free of charge.
Mr Cisse said the “Adopt a School Project” would be run effectively with the media where media houses which had over the years reported about the deplorable state of schools and lack of learning materials in such schools, would be given educational materials to support them.
“So EPP Books Services will simply hand over books that are relevant to the schools to the media houses for them to carry them to the respective schools that they have identified,” he said.
He, therefore, urged the media to join in the project and expressed the hope that it would go a long way to improve the educational standards in the schools.
Support laudable
Receiving the items, the Administrator of the 37 Military Hospital, Lieutenant Colonel Rex Adzagba, lauded EPP Books Services for its support to the hospital’s educational institutions, and expressed the hope that other companies would also come and support the schools.
The Director in charge of the Post graduate College of the hospital, Colonel Sunny Mantey, said the items would help in the training of the residents and students to equip them with knowledge to be up to the task in their various fields of endeavour.
