Train children to be role models — Prof. Aryeetey
Prof. Mrs Ellen Aryeetey, a lecturer at the University of Ghana, has said parents have a duty to ensure that their children are brought up properly so that they can be role models in future.
She pointed out that bringing up smart and productive children required a lot of investment.
According to Prof. Aryeetey, who was the guest speaker at the 29th Speech and Prize-giving Day of the SACS Kindergarten, teachers must also endeavour to secure the safety of the children entrusted into their care for their overall development.
The celebration of the day was on the theme: “Bringing up smart, productive and kind children.”
Prof. Aryeetey commended the school authorities for positioning the school as one of the best private early childhood development centres in the country.
The Headteacher of the school, Mrs Nana Efua Salvo-Poku, in her report, said the school had for the past 29 years achieved its aim of preparing children from six months to five years for primary education.
She said the school had also tried to maintain the small size of each class to ensure that each child received a reasonable amount of attention.
Mrs Salvo-Poku said the school always ensured that it was abreast of changes in the syllabus in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service by attending lectures and refresher courses organised by the Early Childhood Development Association.
The ceremony was interlaced with a sketch performed by children at the kindergarten level and a song and dance performance by children at the crèche section.
