Tema Ridge School marks 10th anniversary
The Tema Ridge School has marked its 10th anniversary by honouring pupils, teachers and supporting staff for their academic excellence, dedicated service and commitment to the growth of the school.
The school, which started in 2003 in a two-bedroom house, currently has a student population of 513 made up of 288 boys, 225 girls and a staff strength of 45.
During a Speech and Prize-giving Day to celebrate the anniversary, Professor Audrey Gadzekpo, Head of Department of the School of Communication Studies, University of Ghana, said in order to raise an excellent generation, parents and teachers must practice the virtues of excellence and insist that children lived up to them.
"A good starting point is integrity—personal and public integrity," she said, asking "how do we measure up in personal as well as public life as parents?

“What are we teaching our children if we make public promises we have no intention of keeping? What are we teaching our children if we, as educators turn a blind eye or indeed, encourage cheating by inflating continuous assessment grades, turn a blind eye to plagiarism, if as parents we pay people to write our children's essays so they can get into good universities and earn scholarships?,” she queried.
She, therefore, advised parents and teachers to live up to their responsibilities by instilling virtues of excellence in their children.
The Executive Director of the Salt and Light Ministries, Rev. Dr Joyce Rosalind Aryee, said relationship, respect, relevance and rapport were key factors that influenced students’ achievements.
In his report, the Headmaster of the school, Mr Jonas Amoako Addy, said for three successive years —2012, 2013 and 2014 - the school scored 100 per cent in the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).
