Strengthen teaching profession; Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee pleads

The Executive Director of the Salt and Light Ministries, Rev. Dr Joyce R. Aryee, has pleaded with the government and other stakeholders to strengthen the teaching profession and make it attractive to the youth.

According to Dr Aryee, if the teaching profession was strengthened and elevated, it would stimulate excellence in education.

Dr Aryee said this at the 40th anniversary launch of the Sap’s School in Accra.

She explained that excellence in education could be achieved by broadening the role and expectations for teachers and matching those with the respect and compensation teachers deserve.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Sama Florence Grant-Chuku, highlighting the history of the school, said the founder, Mrs Emma Nana Asobu Sapara Grant, started it with five young children in the porch of her home and added that the school had now matured. 

She, therefore, pleaded with parents to be committed to the school by attending every activity or counselling programme organised to ensure that their children achieved the best.
