Young designers ‘storm’ Legon
The Lizalex Quadrangle of the University of Ghana, Legon will today, April 8 and tomorrow, April 9, be a hive of activity as this year’s Legon Fashion Weekend comes off there.
Under the theme, ‘Buy Ghana Build Ghana,’ the week-long event aims at promoting made-in-Ghana fashion products such as clothes, shoes, bags, beauty products made by young Ghanaian entrepreneurs.
It will also give an opportunity to models, make-up artists, designers and other creative folks in the fashion arena to showcase their products.
Designers whose works will grace the runway include Afoley Clothing, Janet’s Collections, Barikima Design and Sleek Perfect.

A member of the organising committee, Clifford Selorm, told The Mirror that the essence of the event was to support and promote Ghanaian products in the face of stiff competition from imported stuff.
“As young but responsible members of society, we need to value our own,” Selorm stated.
The Legon Fashion Weekend is supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Association of Students of Performing Arts (ASPA), Alexander Kwapong and Elizabeth F. Sey.
