SP Sarpong, Jupitar steal show at Ho

There is no better word to describe the performances of S. P Sarpong and Jupitar at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Nominees Jam at the Jubilee Park, Ho last Saturday than awesome.

Not even the rains that almost ruined the show could stop them from delivering. The concert scheduled for 9pm took full flight around 11pm after the rains had subsided.

SP Sarpong came on stage at 3:00 am when almost everyone was tired and from the very beginning, it was obvious he was poised to shake up patrons who had been ‘beaten’ by the rains.

And for the 30 minutes he was on stage, SP Sarpong just thrilled with support from the Patch Bay band. Performing Hour by Hour and Tomorrow by this Time, accompanied by some good dance moves,  S. P Sarpong got almost everyone singing and dancing.

SP Sarpong, his dancers and his backup singer, displayed some Azonto skills much to the delight of patrons who could not help but scream and applaud them.

The night was not for SP Sarpong alone. Jupitar De General also proved that he has it takes to move the people of Ho. Well, he could not have performed just anyhow since patrons kept screaming his name when M.C Amanda Jissih announce he was backstage ready to rock.

And indeed, Jupitar did not disappoint. He used the 20 minutes alloted to him well. Dressed in a blue suit, Jupitar did not waste time at all in giving the audience what they wanted as soon as he picked the mic.

After treating patrons to his songs Fire and Money Box, he allowed the charged  audience to do the singing of his Enemies song.

And it was amazing how the people of Ho sang word for word when Jupitar asked Patch Bay band not to play any instrument  and just allow the people to sing. It was interesting.

The newly wed Kwaw Kese surprised everyone when he mounted the stage. He tied the knot in Accra on Saturday and he was there to perform in his wedding suit.  He performed songs such as For The Popping, Yakubu and Na Yaatar.

Inspite of the rains, the VGMA Nominees Jam with Nii Ayi Tagoe at the consol was good considering the exciting performances of most of the artistes and the turnout of patrons who thronged the venue disregarding the downpour.

The main VGMA is slated for May 7 at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC).
