I found out about my son’s second marriage online – Pete Edochie

Veteran Nollywood legend Pete Edochie has at last spoken up about his son Yul Edochie's dreadful marriage issues revealing that he had not been up to post on happenings in his son’s marital issues.

In an interview with renowned journalist Chude Jidenowo about recent events in his son's marital home, the screen star disclosed that his son had unexpectedly taken a second wife and had only learned of it on social media.

Recall that in April 2022, Yul Edochie announced his second marriage to Judy Austin and revealed that they had a son together while he was still married to his first wife May Yul Edochie, a situation that ignited a blazing fire in his first marriage.

Pete Edochie who expressed shock at his son’s second marriage said: “First of all, Yul is 41 and I really don’t interfere in his affairs, no.  Suddenly we heard he’s picked up a second wife. There is one thing you must know about me. I don’t lie, it’s not necessary. God created me so well, If I tell you this thing is black, it is black. You know, it’s like when he wants everything to run for governor or something. When I saw his photograph, I thought it was an introduction they were doing. There was someone who called me and said do you know something? Yul is running for governor and I said he must be crazy, how? I never heard it. I have 5 sons, I don’t interfere with their lives you know. If they say daddy, so and so thing is happening, good, if they don’t tell me, I don’t bother. If they tell me, beautiful. We just heard it and that’s it.”

The thespian also praised May, who is now rumoured to have filed for divorce, as a wonderful young woman and perhaps his favourite daughter-in-law of the five in his family and credited her for the success of her 18-year marriage to Yul.

“Mary is not just a daughter-in-law. I don’t want to say that I love Mary more than the other wives of my sons but the love I have for her is so strong, why? The father and I were very close. Mary is a very brilliant girl. You may not know that. Mary is a computer wizard, and to a very large extent, the success of that home is to Mary’s credit, yeah. But again you know things like this happen and it’s so difficult to convince her that you’re not part of it”, he said.
