From Volta comes Belce

It has become a common trend for young artistes to associate themselves with where they come from in recent times and new Afro pop group, Belce from Ho, hopes to raise the flag of the Volta region with their music.

For them, the success stories of artistes from the region are an inspiration and hope to ride on that to sell their region and its rich culture through their music.

And to prove how ready they are for the task ahead, the group, made up of Fingers Camidoh and KD Bakes,  released their debut song, Richlove, in November last year.

In an interview with Showbiz on Thursday, the young artistes said their first song is not just to test the waters but to announce their presence on the Ghanaian music scene.

“We didn’t come to compete with anyone but to let Ghanaians appreciate that there are talents from other parts of the country as well,” said Kd Bakes who spoke on behalf of the group.

Currently, the group is promoting the video of Richlove which was shot and directed by GhOne’s Prince Dovlo.

Rendered in the Afro pop vein, Richlove is a song about a rich guy who is poised to make life comfortable for his girlfriend and promises to buy her expensive cars like a Ferrari to drive to make her friends envious.

While Fingers Camidoh sings about giving all his properties to the lady, KD Bakes comes in to rap about how he is working hard to buy all the expensive things for his girlfriend.

For people who are committed to promote their Ewe roots and culture, it’s only right to assume the duo would adopt a style pointing to that direction but Richlove sounds more Nigerian but they disagree when their attention was drawn to it.

“No, we are not promoting Nigerian culture. We all know that African countries have similar cultures and music forms part of it. As such, our intention is to do music that appeal to all Africans,” they explained.

Real names, Attachie Raphael Camidoh (Fingers) and Wisdom Rudge Dela (Kd Bakes), the group nurtured their talent back in Bishop Herman College in 2008.

Almost eight years down the line, they have taken their game a notch higher by entering mainstream music. They are set to release another song next month.
