It is the riveting story of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer at the beginning of the series.
Facing a prospect of financial ruin, he turns to a life of crime, as he produces and sells methamphetamine with former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul).
• Boardwalk Empire (New Season Premieres on M-Net Series Showcase on Thursday 10 October at 21:30 CAT). The series won the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Category.
This is a crime drama focusing on a political figure who rose to prominence and controlled Atlantic City, in the 1920s and 1930s.
• The Newsroom (M-Net Channel 101 Mondays at 21:30 CAT). The series won an Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama Series and centers on a cable news anchor (Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer, his newsroom staff and their boss.
Together they set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements.
• Homeland (M-Net Channel 101, season 3 premieres on Monday 14 October at 19:30 CAT). It won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series and for Best Writing.
The series is a psychological thriller that tells the story of Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes), a CIA officer battling her own demons.
She becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of Scott Brody (Damian Lewis) a U.S. soldier who had been missing and presumed dead for nine years, was a setup and may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil.
