Emelia Arthur is Made-In-Ghana ambassador
She has sustained a one-woman campaign for locally-produced stuff for over a year now but gospel singer, Emelia Arthur can now carry on her advocacy with more vim because the Ministry of Trade and Industry has officially chosen her as a Made-in-Ghana Campaign Ambassador.
A letter dated January 12, 2016 and signed by the Minister, Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, stated: “The Ministry is embarking on various drives to stimulate the patronage and consumption of Ghana-made products.
“The campaign is being run by the MIG Steering Committee that comprises professionals from government agencies, communication professionals and trade and industry practitioners, among others.”
The Minister’s letter went on to state that the MIG Steering Committee was inaugurated by President John Mahama in December 2014 and the programme was officially launched on 23rd November , 2015.

“The Ministry would like to select you as a Made- in -Ghana Campaign Ambassador to partner this initiative. Your selection is in recognition of your stature and achievements in society,” the Minister further said in his letter.
Ms Arthur’s role as an Ambassador, Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah spelt out, would include serving as a role model for the campaign; creating awareness on Made- in- Ghana goods and services on her various platforms and participating in events related to the Made- in- Ghana campaign.
“We look forward to working with you to grow the Ghanaian economy,” the letter said in conclusion.
A visibly elated Ms Arthur told Showbiz she was extremely happy to get the backing of the Trade and Industry Ministry to push on with the campaign she embarked on from October 2014 to champion the advantages of us all patronising products made in this country.
“This empowers me to push the agenda further and harder,” she pointed out.
Ms Arthur released a new song recently titled Nyame Enndi Ye Abro (God Won’t Forsake Us) to help bolster her crusade.
The track, sung in Fante, Twi, Ewe and Ga says once we plant seeds and they germinate, it means God won’t ever forsake us so we must rise and raise up this country by relying on our own efforts.
“I’m far with preparation to shoot a video for the song after which I hope to put on a concert that would also feature artistes who think and act along the same lines as I do in promoting made-in-Ghana products,” she said.
